Aqua watched the black wolf leave the tent. She never could understand how Gamin knew what it was saying. It all sounded like growling and barking to her. She shook her head and turned back to Gamin.
"Okay, so what's this mission about?"
She sat down and started polishing her katana and shuriken.

Re: In Search of Sunrise
Gamin didn't reply at once. Instead he propped his weapons against the wall and settled himself onto his bed, clasping his hands behind his head and making it as though he were about to go sleep. After a minute or so he finally replied.
"We're going to assassinate their king...."
"We're going to assassinate their king...."

Re: In Search of Sunrise
Even though Aqua was looking down at her katana, she knew even Gamin could see her eyes get wide.
"Th.... the King!" she choked out.
"How do you suppose we do that?!"
Aqua could feel the unwanted anger welling up inside her.
Not now! Not while he's watching!
She fought with herself, but the anger burst out.
"Do you know what we’re up against?! There are too many guards! How do you suppose we get through the defenses?!
She silently congratulated herself for not letting it slip that the king was her father, but the anger was still burning inside her.
Shanti stepped in to try and cover up Aqua's near mistake.
"I'm sorry Gamin. She has her little fits once in a while. It's not that ba--"
"NO!" Aqua interrupted her friend.
"We can't just be ordered to do that!"

Re: In Search of Sunrise
Gamin smiled. He had succeeded in his goal to make Aqua angry.
"Why so mad?" he asked.
"Do you not think that we'll succeed? You know, sometimes you make me think that you have some sort of.....attraction or maybe even an alliance with the light?"
Gamin looked at Aqua through the corner of his eyes, treasuring every moment of this. Suddenly he heard hooves outside the tent, shortly followed by a cloaked woman entering the tent. Shikomi padded in after her and walked over to Gamin, who had lifted himself to his elbows after the woman entered. Shikomi sat down next to Gamin. When Gamin realized who had entered he quickly got to his knees and bowed.
"C-Colonel Anwamane!" he stammered, staring at his hands on the floor. The colonel looked around the tent and finally rested her gaze on the three warriors in the center of the tent. Two were on their knees facing her, but one was standing with her back turned.

Re: In Search of Sunrise
Aqua felt as if she was frozen on the spot with her fists clenched to her sides and her face screwed in a death glare. Only after Shanti nudged her leg did she realize her surroundings. She looked around and she felt her face get hot with embarrassment when she noticed the colonel. She quickly dropped to her knees.

Re: In Search of Sunrise
The colonel gazed at the three on the ground.
"Show me your faces," she ordered. Gamin immediately did as he was told. There were only three people who he respected greatly, the Head of Army, Colonel Anwamane, and his father. His father was in the front lines currently fighting the light, or so he was told. He wasn't sure whether he alive or dead since they hadn't had any news from the front lines as of yet. But Sanika was his fathers superior, just a few ranks below the Head of Army.
"C-Colonel! What a surp-"
"Silence!" Sanika cut him off sharply.
"You only speak when spoken to!"
Gamin quickly closed his mouth, taken aback by Colonel Anwamane's ferocity. Even though she was only a year older than him, Sanika outranked him greatly. It seemed that she put all her anger into her line of work after being forced to join the military at age 12. Due to this she quickly shot up the ranks in just a few years. Gamin stared blankly at Sanika, afraid to speak out of line again.

Re: In Search of Sunrise
Aqua and Shanti lifted their faces up as the Colonel had ordered. Aqua could just barely hold back a giggle as she watched Gamin get so fidgety. Only at times like this did she get to see his "soft" side.
Aqua stared at the woman, wondering why she came in. Colonel Sanika had beautiful silver hair that seemed to flow down like a waterfall. It looked so strange up next to her dark cloak. She couldn't help wondering why the Dark and Light had to fight. The Colonel just looked like she would be a noble light resident, but, then again, the fact that the darkness that put out the sun on this land wasn't predicted. Even the best scholars didn't predict it. Now thanks to the "evil", everything had changed.
Aqua went off into space while thinking. When Shanti nudged her again, her face went red again as she realized that the Colonel was looking right at her.

Re: In Search of Sunrise
"I heard you screaming at your group leader, Emontae. Would you like to explain that?"
Gamin looked at the colonel questioningly. Surly she couldn't have heard their conversation? He looked sidelong to Shikomi, who bowed his head confirming that he had delivered the message.
"Excuse my intrusion Ma'am."
Gamin lowered his head again as he started. Sanika turned her gaze to Gamin once more.
"Didn't I tell you to hold your tongue Nakota?"
Gamin flinched at her words.
"Y-yes Ma'am, but I was just toying with her and she became a little upset. It was nothing really."
Sanika looked amused at this.
"Toying....."
The colonel turned on her heels and strode out of the tent not saying anything more. Gamin lifted himself back up, a bit shaken.

Re: In Search of Sunrise
Aqua's face still felt hot. She turned to Gamin.
"What was that about? You've never stood up for me!" She kept her voice down as turned to her side of the tent. She began to pack for the next day.
"Come on. We better get ready to leave..."

Re: In Search of Sunrise
Gamin shrugged his shoulders.
"What can I say? I may respect her but that doesn't mean that I don't want her out of my hair. I wanted her gone."
He took a few breaths to get back to his normal self and lied back down on his bed.
"Don't count on it again though..." he mumbled before falling asleep soon afterwards.
A little bit a ways from the tent a centaur stood watching carefully. She winced in pain as blood dripped from what was now more of a dead weight than a useful leg. She was a messenger for light and was sent by the cousin of the princess to find and deliver a message to her. But along the way she had run into some hungry wild wolves. She was lucky to get away with her life even though it had the cost of her leg.
"Surly she can't be here with the Dark!" she cried to herself.
She twisted around to examine her wound. Her leg was still in tact but it had been torn up by the wolves. She was growing weaker by the second, but she had at least bandaged most of the wound to slow the loss of blood. Sweat dripped from her brow as she settled herself down, not without the accompaniment of an aching pain all over though.
"I'll have to rest here for the night....."
