Sonya looked down at the ground from where she was perched in the bare limbs of the tall sycamore. She was hiding from her brother since he wouldn't leave her alone about practicing her Light magic. She had been practicing it for 3 days straight without any free time, so she was hoping to go down to the creek with Saachi.
Sonya hopped out of the tree when the coast looked clear, but as she started walking, she felt a firm hand grab her shoulder, preventing her from continuing her stroll to the creek. Sonya knew it was Fye, but she turned her neck to see his face to give him puppy eyes anyways, hoping he would set her free. As she turned her head though, the sight frightened her out of her skin.
The usual cute 19 year old all the girls were talking about was glaring down at her, his bright yellow eyes with an evil glint in them looked red in the shadows. His hair covered his face, which made him look even more menacing. "AAAAAK!" she screamed just before he picked her up and threw her over his shoulder and walked back to their house. "Come on Sonya, enough playing!" he mumbled rather menacing. "Not that I've even been able to play!" she shouted back at him as they walked deeper and deeper into the forest.

Beowulf was walking through the shoulder-deep snow when he saw something flash by in his peripheral vision. He turned to see what it but didnt see anything. He turned around to look at the pack that he had lead since he was five. He saw Fire and Ice, his best freinds and the only two who helped him when he became the leader, and two other wolves. He looked closer and noticed that one of the wolves, Chaur the trouble-maker, had dissapered. Beowulf thought that he had run off. He told the pack to turn around so they could search for him.

Faelivren stood on a branch of another sycamore tree that stood in the front of a vast forest, placing her hand on the trunk to keep herself from losing balance. She was watching a young girl, elf by her appearance, hiding from her brother, who also appeared to be elf. She had been watching the two for a week now, gathering as much information on them as possible, watching their everyday habits and schedule. She had gained the knowledge that they were siblings from a town that was about half a day's walk from where the two lived. Though she couldn't gain any more information on them, she had decided to make them her prey already. Now she was just waiting for a chance to strike.

As Sonya and Fye got back to the house, he set her down on a tree stump. "Now. Show me what I've been teaching you." he demanded impatiently.
Sonya put her arms up placing her hands horizontal to the ground. She put one hand with the palm up about 3 cm underneath her other hand with the palm down. She closed her eyes tightly and tightened her lips. Fye looked hopefully from a distance just in case Sonya got distracted and zapped him.
Sonya opened one of her eyes just to look at what was going on.
A small ball of light had started to form. "Ah! Fye! It's working!"

Fae continued to watch the two from her tree limb. The girl seemed to be holding something very bright. Fae closed her eyes for a moment, concentrating, and when she slowly opened them again they had turned from a brilliant green to a deep amber. She had transformed her eyes into those of a hawks. Her vision zoomed in onto Sonya and she realized that the girl was summoning up magic, part of her daily schedule. The girl seemed to be getting better and better at this technique and knew that she would have to take her chance soon before the two could get good enough to defend themselves. Fae decided to go for it that night.

"Don't lose your focus!" Fye shouted at her. But it was too late. The ball of light grew bigger and bigger and light shot everywhere. "Direct it at something!" Fye yelled while shielding his eyes from the bright light cutting through everything. A ray skimmed past his ankle and burned through his pants. He batted at the flame that formed there.
Sonya looked around trying to find a place to put it. The rim of her sleeves where starting to get too hot. She winced as it started to burn her hands. Suddenly, a ray hit her in the heart. Everything started dissolving from her vision as she staggered backwards. Her hearing was going out too. Everything sounded as if they all were under water.
Sonya used the last bit of energy she could conjure up and thrust her arms towards an old sycamore tree in front of the clearing that they were in. All the light shot from her hands and soaked the tree with light. The tree started glowing and getting warmer. A small smile formed on her face as she saw the light dissolve from the tree. She slumped onto the ground as everything turned black. She could barely hear Fye calling to her as she slowly lost consciousness and drifted off into a deep, dark slumber.
